IITs & NITs Have Excellent Placements, But ‘Big Deficiency’ In Education Quality

India’s premier technical institutes viz. IITs’ and NITs’ which are popular among students are facing issue with the quality of the education they provide. Highlighting the issue of quality education in schools and colleges, President Pranab Mukherjee, on Monday noted that though Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) have very good placements, there exists a massive deficiency in the quality of education. Earlier Indian Government has added new IIT Jammu in the league and planning one lacks new admission by year 2020

Our IITs and NITs are excellent for recruitment. But no IITs, NITs and other Indian universities (have made it). There are 732 universities and 36,000 degree colleges in the country. There is good infrastructure. Yet, there is a big deficiency in the quality of education, said the President Pranab Mukherjee.

No Knowledge Without Education

India has reached to situation where its educational infrastructure is good enough in past 70 years, and to ensure the quality they have initiated various quality majors like educational institute rankings. This improved infrastructure must be used to lure 60000 students which leaves our country for higher education to premier foreign institutes like Oxford, Cambridge , MIT etc.

While speaking at National Teachers Awards ceremony where around 350 school teachers have been facilitated by HRD Minister, President thinks that “There’s no knowledge in society without education,” adding to this he thinks, “Education is not just about getting good salary packages but a social responsibility.”

Thus to improve the knowledge of India we must leverage our educational infrastructure to keep talent in the country and use them not only to earn money but for a social cause too.
